We want all our clients to feel completely secure and safe with our health professionals, so we carefully screen all our staff applications. This includes background checks and police checks.

It is a requirement that all applicants for the Company provide details of any existing convictions or any new convictions prior and subsequent to their employment by the Company. Denial or non-disclosure of any relevant conviction, which is subsequently shown to exist, shall lead to immediate dismissal.

In order to comply with this, the Company completes a Police check on all potential applicants. Applications will generally be declined if disclosure shows:

  • Crimes of Violence
  • Abusive behaviour
  • Serious or continuous drug/alcohol offences
  • Dishonesty/theft
  • Crimes involving betrayal or manipulation of vulnerable people

Criteria used to assess the applicants' Police record shall be:

  • Length of time since crime was committed
  • Age and maturity now as opposed to when the crime was committed
  • Seriousness of crime
  • Pattern of crime
  • Involvement of violence in crime

Further, all staff have their backgrounds checked by appropriate reference checks to establish their employment history and their suitability for positions within client’s homes.

Where reference to a previous employer is impossible, then checks will be made with other referees as may be appropriate – e.g. service organisations, school groups etc.
